AMAZONAS FOR SNACKING
MACAMBO – WHITE COCOA
We’re pretty excited right now – because we’ve found our very first product for a transparent and sustainable value chain: Macambo! We love these delicious seeds and can’t wait to share that joy with you. The best part? They’re ideal for supporting rainforest protection here in the Río Napo region.
The white cacao tree – the big sister of traditional cacao – promotes healthy biodiversity in agroforestry systems and offers local families a dignified source of income. That makes it a real alternative to the destructive gold mining that threatens this area.
As you can tell – we’re on fire for Macambo and are passionately preparing the first steps for direct export!
Try the nut that makes you happy. Now available at Tante Emmer Bioladen in Hausen am Albis.

SINCHI KAMAY
Munay Amazonas in collaboration with the Indigenous women’s organization Sinchi Warmi.
Sinchi Kamay is more than a name. It’s a promise – born from the heart of the rainforest and the strength of Indigenous women. With courage and collective action, something new is coming to life: creative, strong, and full of meaning. A way of doing that nourishes – our land, our communities, and our shared future.
In Kichwa, the name means “to create with strength and courage” – an expression of autonomy, ancestral knowledge, and community-led action. Every product carries the energy of the women who protect the Amazon, their culture, and their future with strong hands and open hearts.
With Sinchi Kamay, we are building a new value chain around the Amazonian white cacao (Theobroma bicolor). We support Indigenous families in cultivating biodiverse forest gardens where Macambo is grown organically.
At the same time, a small community-based processing facility is being built in Misahuallí. From the tree to the final product, the entire production process will remain in the hands of the women of Sinchi Warmi.
Munay Amazonas accompanies the project in close partnership with Sinchi Warmi, taking on coordination, implementation, fundraising, and strategic guidance. Together, we create the legal, structural, and financial foundations to make the local vision of Sinchi Warmi a lasting reality.
THEOBROMA BICOLOR
Pre-Columbian cultures already used this fruit in ceremonial drinks. Roasted and without any additives, these crunchy seeds are full of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants – a true superfood from South America. They also contain theobromine, the same natural stimulant found in cacao. So Macambo keeps you awake – and happy.

In the video, you see a white cacao tree – Theobroma bicolor, the big sister of traditional cacao (Theobroma cacao). As you may notice, the harvest just ended. The last fruits are still hanging from the branches of these mighty trees. They ripen when they fall to the ground. Each large yellow fruit contains 35–40 seeds – the “Macambo nuts” – covered in juicy pulp, inside a hard shell. Just like traditional cacao.
